It’s official! The next set of games in the extremely popular gaming franchise Pokémon has been announced. Pokémon Sun and Moon is set to be for sale to the general public in late 2016 for purchase.
It is Pokémon's 20th Anniversary this year and to celebrate the game released a Super Bowl commercial.
A trailer.
And a lot of merchandise.
Among these announcement's was their newest games, Sun and Moon. The pair of 3DS games was formally announced for the 3DS system on Friday’s Nintendo Direct.
This is the 7th Generation in the series and caused quite the buzz among gamers everywhere. Pokémon began its journey in 1996 with Pokémon Red, and Blue. People everywhere immediately fell in love with this simple, yet addictive game.
Collecting and battling Pokémon never gets old, and this is proven through the consistent and growing popularity of the franchise. It doesn’t matter what your age is, you never fully outgrow Pokémon. The game instills a special feeling of fun an accomplishment through adventures and the accomplishment of collecting. It also creates endless memories with friends.
My first Pokémon game was Pokémon Red, I was around 10 years old. (The same age as Ash.) The memories that came with that game is something that I will never forget. I would sit on my front steps with my neighborhood friends and play Pokémon for hours upon end. We would talk and laugh until it got dark, which was a problem because the back of the screen wasn't backlit at the time. We traded and battled through this little cable and we could never have imagined just how much Pokémon has taken off since then.
As the years went on the series developed from the original Gameboy, to the Game Boy Advanced, to Nintendo DS, and now the Nintendo 3DS. The series has evolved greatly, and yet stayed the same in general concept. You still capture, train, and evolve your Pokémon, but a lot is updated now including graphics, among many other features.
The new Pokémon are yet to be reveled but hopefully they will be worthwhile and fun to train.
As I grew up, I fell completely in love with the game. I got Pokemon Diamond, which was one of my favorite games at the time and I ended up playing it for over 400 hours as a child. I grew my favorite Pokémon to level 100, which is the highest they can grow. I loved and always will love Pokémon.
Needless to say, Pokémon Sun and Moon is destined to be a huge hit for this reason. Pokémon has a fan-following of millennials who grew up with earlier versions of the game, as well as the younger children who are currently growing up loving the game. It is an enjoyable game for anyone of any age and Pokémon Sun and Moon is sure to be a special edition to this extremely successful franchises legacy.
