Pokémon GO. You have probably heard about it before. I mean you definitely have, unless of course you have been living under a rock. When it first came out it blew up. It was insanely popular for a bit. It was released on July 6, 2016. It started off with an average of 20 million users and has generated $600 million of revenue. It is estimated that in its first day it made $3.9 to $4.9 million dollars. Since then, revenue has declined and plateaued. User levels dropped a lot since then, as would be suspected. If you didn't want to spend money on the game then you quickly learned it was frustrating to get poke balls and other items in the game.
Some people have been inquiring about whether the game is still active. It is but it isn't nearly as popular as it used to be. However, they are trying to vamp things up for a gen two patch, and Reddit let some information slip. Starbucks let slip that a lot of Starbucks locations across the United States will soon be gyms and poke stops. Apparently an frappuccino icon will appear when you are near a Starbucks location and you will be able to order special off menu drinks. The leaker also said that if you do order a special drink through the app, you will get a special rare Pokémon. All of that information was meant to remain private until the patch was released.
It looks like Pokémon GO is trying to make, at least a small comeback. Guess we will have to wait and see what comes of it.
