5 Reasons Pokémon GO! Is The Best Game For College Students

Pokemon GO is a spinoff of the Pokemon games and universe originally seen on TV and played on Nintendo DS. The Nintendo company released the smartphone app in the summer of 2016 and it went completely viral. Millions around the world were playing the game all summer long. Whether on a camping trip, at the beach, or at an amusement park, there were people everywhere with their heads in their phones trying to catch as many Pokemon as they could. The game is still pretty prevalent today, but has since died down from its release in 2016. Although many have stopped playing Pokemon GO, there are still so many reasons students, and everyone, should still be playing this game!

1.Great exercise

You may not realize it, but Pokemon GO is a great source of exercise. The basis of the game is to walk around and search for Pokemon. They don't always just show up, so you have to keep moving in order to find them! There are also eggs that you can collect and hatch that require anywhere from two to ten kilometers in walking to hatch.

2.Gets you outside

Along with getting good exercise, Pokemon GO gets you out of bed, off the couch, or keeps you from snacking when bored and out in the fresh air. Pokemon GO also allows you to see new places and be more adventurous. If you live in a town or city, consider yourself super lucky, as you probably have hundreds of pokemon and Pokestops out there waiting for you to discover! If you live somewhere that's pretty rural, get in the car and go to your nearest town or city and get playing! Pokemon GO is a great way to discover new places.

3.It's a good study break

When you've been studying for what feels like hours, Pokemon GO is an excellent way to relieve stress and get you away from homework and textbooks for a while. Nature walks are a great way to get rid of stress and Pokemon GO just enhances that!

4.Ups your social game

Many people might think that Pokemon GO is "lame" or "nerdy," but the app really allows you to meet some pretty cool people. A feature in the game called Raids, which requires a lot of people to team up to weaken a very strong pokemon in order to catch it, gets people to come together in the same location, allowing you to interact face to face. This is pretty cool as most games don't allow you to do this.

5.The Pokemon are so. darn. CUTE!

The motivation to play Pokemon GO isn't just completing tasks, controlling gyms, and evolving the strongest Pokemon. Some people just like to "Catch 'Em All" because they're just so stinkin' cute! Hopefully, this collection of gifs explains it all.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
