The new game by Niantic has been released, and now we can live in a world of Pokemon. More descriptively, an augmented reality of Pokemon. The game adds the first generation of Pokemon to the world and allows people to travel around and find them on their own time. The game also sets Pokestops at attractions in all areas, which people can stop at the claim rewards and items to help you in the game. In this article specifically, rather than helping people with the game, I want to help people who are shunning to game to give it a try. I believe the game has a good case to make for universal enjoyment.
The game is very creative and obviously appeals to an audience of Pokemon fanatics. However, the core game mechanics makes it a very enjoyable game for all potentially. Many people did not like the Pokemon game series and therefore immediately think that this game cannot appeal to them. Pokemon Go is actually quite different and adds an entirely different style of play compared to the Nintendo games. Pokemon Go is more heavily focused on catching Pokemon in the wild and exploring the world in search of rare and powerful Pokemon. Pokemon battles are boiled down to a tap and click game which is not as strategic as the Nintendo games. On a more personal level, the game appeals to me for my love of the Pokemon and it helps me be more social and active. I am not the type of person to just go on random adventures and be very spontaneous, but the game has allowed me to be this. I usually find myself leaving the house once a day at least just to look for Pokemon. This has led to me being with friends more, finding more time to just be outside (even if I am looking for Pokemon) and give me a game to play which does not involve me being holed up in my room for hours.
A lot of people that I know that do not enjoy the game dislike it based on its aesthetic being Pokemon and their unwillingness to play the game because of this. However, I find even if this game was not Pokemon, it would have done well. The game mechanics and interesting and could survive on their own merit. The Pokemon overlay to the game ropes in an audience that has craved a Pokemon RPG for decades now and allows the game to grow in popularity rapidly. This is, of course, the main reason for the games rapid success, but the game would still be able to function without Pokemon, which makes it a good game. The way the game makes anticipation and rarity work within the game is clean and well done. Seeing a new and different silhouette on your nearby Pokemon screen is an event worth sharing. The game draws you back into itself because you never know what you will find in a new or familiar area. Even as I write this article, I find myself checking my phone periodically to see what is new around me to catch. I even once left my room in search of one. This game is revolutionary and groundbreaking in its augmented reality technique. The recognition that the game is receiving is well deserved and everyone should at least try to to give the game a try because you never know if you like something unless you give it a chance. Pokemon Go is definitely worth at least a chance.
