With the recent release of Pokemon GO the world of the 90s has made a comeback and has kids, and adults, hunting for these imaginary creatures that have given people something to enjoy and has gotten people to actually go outside and walk around. Now with everything that is fun, enjoyable, or even a trend there is always some kind of hatred that goes along with it.
Since the release I have seen a lot of people playing this game and have publicly on social media bragged or showed off what they have caught. Like the old saying goes, "it's all fun and games until someone comes and mess it up." Through all of my social media I have seen people say, "Real men hunt deer, not Pokemon," or "These people need to get a job instead of playing an app trying to catch all of these imaginary creatures." These things annoy me because it seems as if people are being very ignorant and judgmental over a free app on a cell phone. I'm a strong believer of if you like something, then keep liking it and if you don't like something, then keep on with your life. Don't be so hateful about someone's interest. I can think of thousand different things to express a feeling over than a person trying to enjoy something they like.
Back to the positive point of this article! Pokemon Go has people being social, interacting with humans and has people exercising! The app is honestly one of the greatest thing to ever come out and it's free! The idea of Pokemon was to be the very best like nothing else ever was, to travel across lands searching far and wide for these creatures. With GPS technology, the Pokemon Company has incorporated real life landmarks with the areas around us and puts Pokemon, based on what their type is, in that certain location. For example, you can find a Bulbasaur around grass, a Squirtle around water and a Mewtwo around Area 51. I've seen kids walking to college kids my age running around geeking out with their friends, and I've seen some older people as well walking their dogs getting into the action. Me and my friends have been enjoying it and I have even met a few people that are very cool individuals.
Now if you all don't mind, I'm going to go outside with my friends and walk and enjoy the good outdoors while admiring it and all of its beauty while catching Pokemon on my phone. But for the sake of you and the people around-- you be safe, enjoy the time you have with your friends and don't always be hooked to the app. I get it is fun and enjoyable, but don't let an app consume your entire life! Remember life offers many different things, but if you see a Mew, then go freaking catch it!
