Pokémon Go Is A Blessing Not A Curse

A game that came at the perfect time.

When I first heard of a game that required you to walk around and stare at your phone, I thought it was the dumbest thing that could have ever happened in this world right now. I was wrong. It is interesting to me how something as simple as a game could bring people together and remind people to enjoy simple things in life.

This game has made people want to walk around, venture out into places they have never been before, and is even fun for people who were never really into Pokemon back then. With all of the negativity that has been going on in the world, I think it works as the perfect distraction from all of that. I’m not saying that it is good to ignore what is happening in the world, but it has served as a good break from the constant bad news that the media has been focusing on.

I myself have been tired of all of the negative energy that is constantly on my newsfeed. Before I even open any sort of social media, I sort of brace myself because I know that there is going to be all of these posts about debates on #BlackLivesMatter and #AllLivesMatter, police brutality, and not to mention all of the debates about this years presidential campaign. I get that these are the important issues, and these are the things people need to be discussing, but that is not all I want to see either. People have forgotten how to realize when enough is enough. Now there are posts that are anti-Pokemon Go to add to the list. So what if people just want to play a game on their phone? It doesn’t hurt you, so why hate on it?

Everyone is on their phones all of the time anyway, so why not make it fun? So if you’re out there catching them all, just remember to watch where you are going and to be safe. Do not Pokemon Go and drive!

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
