There is a new craze in the gaming scene and it’s called Pokémon Go. This is a new app that is taking over the world and has now become the most downloaded game app in history.

Pokémon Go is an app that can be downloaded on any smartphone and that anybody can play. The goal of the game is to “catch ‘em all.” It uses GPS signal to place Pokémon at different spots around your location. This forces the player to move and travel to different areas in order to gain more Pokémon. As you go along you collect more Pokémon, gain points, and reach different levels.

When this game was created, it was meant to get people outside and walking around. It has done so much more than that and has now become a craze. People are playing this game wherever they go, day or night. Pokémon Go has gotten people to come together and meet up to play the game. If you go to your nearby park or town, you are bound to see kids walking around aimlessly looking at their phone. You know that they are hunting Pokémon.

Pokémon Go has become a game that most people are crazy about. It does have its benefits, however it also comes with some downfalls.

There is a feature in the game called a lure, and this allows the player to put a lure out at a certain location which puts a Pokémon there and attracts other players. This can be a dangerous situation because when the other players go to find the Pokémon that the lure set, they don’t know the situation that they are walking into. There was a situation in Missouri where three teens put out a lure in a parking lot and people went there look for the Pokémon and ended up being robbed at gunpoint.

This game is a big distraction to people while they are on the move. Yes it gets them out and walking around, but it causes them to be distracted while doing it. A teen in New York ended up walking on to a highway and got hit by a car because he was looking for a Pokémon that he had been chasing. Another incident that occurred was a man that was driving and playing Pokémon and ended up crashing his car into a tree.

People aren’t just walking around and playing anymore. They are driving to find these Pokémon and it is highly distracting. Distracted driving is dangerous and can get someone killed. This game has its’s dangers if it is not played properly.

Pokemon Go came on the scene as a new app craze. Certain things about it are dangerous, but if it is played properly and in the right areas at the right time, it can be a fun game that everybody can play.

Pokemon Go is a game that is worth playing, only under the right circumstance though. So everyone that plays it, play it safely and you can have fun with all your friends playing it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
