Poison Love: A Poem Series

Have you ever loved someone too much? I have. This is a poem series about love that should not have been loved. This series is about feelings that weigh heavy in the heart but are not reciprocated, or are wasted on abusive misfits. These poems are about loving fully, opening the self-up, and receiving disappointment for reward; but they represent resilience because the soul can learn to love again.

What is Life?

To be in your arms
To be a part of you
To be only yours
To even exist in a world inside of a universe
Where I can know you
That is a privilege.
And to love you
Oh God,
To get to love you
Now that is to live

I have no more words to utter

It’s all said
It’s all done
She was everything
He was the one
The moon
And the sun
Our brightest stars
Are now on the run
Naked soul
A silent compassion passes between us

I am here for you
When the world’s left you
I cannot laugh
I cannot judge
Only listen
Memorize the silence
She was everything
He was the one
The moon
And the sun
Our brightest stars
They are now on the run
Naked soul
A silent compassion passes between us

I am here for you

I can’t help but to look at her and think that you’ve downgraded. She was beautiful.

More than air

You make me pathetic
Craving you
Even if only a brief passing by
Wanting to breathe in you
Desiring you
You make me weak
Pathetic to your judgment
Pining for your approval
Awaiting your pat on the head

I just want you to love me
I want that more than air
I want it more than space
More than anything on earth

I’ll cry my tears in silence
I’ll try harder

All you must say is jump
And I will ask, “How high?”

Pathetic

You mean that much to me.
Do I mean that much to you?

I feel like loving you, so, that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to love you.

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
