In a corner of my heart where my dreams make a home,
lays a longing for the truth of what is to come.
A desperate desire to know what will be,
to know what is to become of the person you see.
Will I be found in the future with triumph and bliss,
bathed in an endless joyful abyss?
Will I be valiant, faithful and bold in what I believe?
Will I be confident, stunning, and unapologetically me?
Or will the future find me in moments of pain,
fearful of the wind and the sky and the rain,
obscurity pulling me under its wings,
my failures blinding me with the darkness they bring?
This longing for the truth is a dangerous one,
as perilous as flying too close to the sun.
For in our fates there will be truths we cannot bear,
details of our lives we’ll be unable to repair.
But along with the troubles the world will bring,
will be moments of harmony that will make your heart sing.
Regardless of whatever pains and pleasures come to pass,
I have learned most of all that moments do not last.
Delight, sorrow, grief, or glee,
you will become who you are destined to be.
