My discontent for the political state of this country, especially in regards to the upcoming presidential election, has started to take poetic form.

Empathy. It has forsaken me and my generation, at least in this nation. Greed, money, hate and power, all seem to devour our foundation for courtesy, generosity and chivalry; brewing up animosity and stealing our honesty...

Just to talk about it briefly, I'll bring into discussion our plutocracy. And if you'll hold off on the mockery, I'll try to make a point, with which you might even agree...

Our government's lies have become predictable. Their thirst for money is quite despicable. This moment is truly pivotal, to making this reality less typical. Government corruption, it's up for discussion. Well, discussion or protest, but we must never let the unjust rest...

Extortion in politics and greed have been making our country bleed, resources, happiness and energy. Disregarding even subtlety in their redundancy of gluttony, the casualty being society. "They" really don't care about you and me...

Complacent, obsequious and mean, the American way is becoming disrespectful and obscene. I want this to all be a bad dream, but our country is falling apart at the seam. Belligerence fuels our intolerance, lacking common sense and building greatness off false pretense...

Don't be so sold on everything you're told because some information is controlled by those with no morals left to uphold... The reality they create for you, it will get old. Try to break this mold with the diligence to be bold, and don't let fear inhibit you, from allowing your individuality to unfold.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
