In looking at the stars that night
I’m afraid I saw your skin.
The blue-black sky that glazed the night
Was a tribute to our sin.
In looking at the galaxy
I saw your left wrist vein.
I breathed in hard and choked on air,
My god, you were driving me insane.
In glancing at the bright full moon
I saw your sunshine smile.
It’d been two hours since you left
But it felt like such a while.
In looking at the planets move,
I saw you running free.
I closed my eyes and pictured it:
My earth, my land, my sea.
But now I sit under the sky
And the magic, I can not find.
I realize I only ached for you
The nights the stars aligned.
