They say that the pills you take make you weak.
Medication won't fix what's inside your head.
When we try and fix what is bubbling like hot magma in our minds, we are ridiculed for the changes trying to be made.
The pills I take do not make me any less of a person than what I was before I took them.
Happy pills are not as great as everyone makes it out to be.
There are side effects, judgement, and new substances coursing through your body.
Sometimes the happy pills can be not so happy, they can make you sad, angry, or even unusually happy.
While happy pills are suppose to make you happy, the results are not immediate.
It takes time, changes, and patience to realize that those pills are making you different - and in a good way.
People who do not have anything wrong with them tend to be the ones to tear down the idea of taking medicine.
If someone you know (or even doesn't know) is judging you for going on the path of medicine rather than just "getting over it" please, please, please just ignore them.
While you are trying to get better, to climb to the top of the mountain, there are going to be obstacles in the way - both internally and externally.
What matters most is that you grow into the person that you wish to become...
And if it means taking pills to regulate the chemicals in your brain, then so be it.
I wrote this recently in light of me getting back on my medicine, Zoloft. It has been a very crazy ride so far and while it hasn’t been easy, it has been the best choice for me. With that being said, do not ever let other people’s judgement steer you into the wrong direction. A lot of people believe that medicine isn’t the answer, but for some people, it is. Medicine can be taboo to some, but ultimately it is your choice and yours alone to decide what is best for you. Always continue to do the right thing for you, even if others are not on your side.
