Walk down the hall and looked in a mirror
Standing before me, the image was clearer
Brown hair, brown eyes, getting older
Now, turn around, look over your shoulder
A little girl, a few years younger
Where did the time go, I wonder
No more crayons, puzzles, and story-books
Only work, studying, and frowning looks
Traded in the ballet shoes
Started watching the evening news
Still the same little girl
In her own little world
Grown up now
Hoping to make her parents proud.
