Visual Poetry can mean a lot of different things. Often times it is used to convey an emotion or action, more than just words on page. It can be adding some sort of picture, or making the poem have columns--just adding some sort of visual effect to it. Personally, I like to think of it as a portable art exhibit. With each poem carefully crafted in speech and layout, it can be way more effective and powerful than a regular poem. That is why I have begun a project: To write at least one visual poem a week.
I think writing is a great way to release any emotions built up during a crazy week in the life. This visual poetry is an experiment in my creative thought to see how many ways I can think differently and I hope it inspires you to think and write creatively too. Even with just words on a page, the worlds created can be limitless.
I want these poems to be taken out of context(as strange as that is) and applied to your own life. See what they mean to you in your own special way. They mean something completely different to me than you and that is okay. My goal is not only to help myself release some sort of emotion, but help you, the reader, emit one as well. Reading this visual poetry can be a release of your own. Powerful in wording and in layout, it is a printable, thought-provoking art exhibit, ready to be read by eager eyes. I urge you to read closely and most importantly, let yourself feel.
*WARNING STRONG LANGUAGE USED IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING POEMS*
I hope you felt something--even if it was a deep hatred for visual poetry. I think it is a great way to connect the physical and the abstract of the mind, creating beautiful works of art. It can be a messy, hard way to write because it not just what the words say but how you should say them.
I hope you take these out of context. I hope they make you think and feel. I hope they inspire you to write and create differently than the world around you. I hope they inspire you to create new worlds themselves.
Find Your Words,
