Poetry On Odyssey: The Stargazer

What is that little speck I see millions of light years away?

Close enough for my fingertips to touch,

Yet so far.

I can see the bear, the scorpion, the hunter and the winged horse,

Their stories forever written among the stars by ancient poets long ago.

It's the stars that keep me grounded, even if they are ten thousand lifetimes away,

Because they were here much before me. They will still burn a thousand years from today.

The stars are hope in a dark expanse of space,

They're the ones who light up a world and give it life, like the sun.

Billions and billions of masses of light and energy,

It's hard to believe that the universe once had none.

How insignificant we are, as human beings,

When we are compared to the massive galaxies and stars that unfold in front of us?

Your problems seem so small compared to the universe. Your world seems so small.

Things that are much bigger than you are going on.

I watch the stars until I see the fiery white strip on the horizon.

One by one, all of the stars, galaxies and constellations wink out.

They're all still there, just in the shadow of our great star.

Daylight has come, I must go about my life.

This is the planet where I have to stay.

But how, how do I do that,

When my heart is soaring among the galaxies and stars millions of light years away?

Find excitement in your life and start exploring wherever you are right here, right now.

mu bucket list

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2023, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.

5 Reasons Why Finals Week Is The Worst For People Who Love Christmas

Christmas is on the brain during the month of December, not finals! How do you expect me to study?

Christmas is literally so close. We can almost taste it. But there is just one thing standing between you and the big day: FINALS. It's not the studying, lack of sleep, last minute cram sessions or crappy food intake that is the worst... but the fact that you cannot focus because, well, CHRISTMAS. How do professors expect you to focus when Christmas is soooo soon. For all my fellow Christmas lovers out there, I feel your pain.
