Poetry On Odyssey: Given

We all must have something to believe in

Poetry On Odyssey: Given
Garon Piceli

When it comes to tough times, I always rely on my spirituality and poetry to get me through them. This time around, God spoke out to me and I understood not to give up. I am writing now, not to force anything on anyone, but to give a sense of hope and to believe in something out there that can get you through tough moments as well. Here is a poem I wrote while covering with God.

Given to me, a New life

A New Life like a newly planted seed

That hammering noise given to the earth

Like a baby’s heartbeat,

The start of something new

The blood running down my savior’s body

Like a mother running to save her child from destruction

As it sinks down to the ground

It gets absorbed into my seed

Like water with his love Given to me like Sunlight

I am nourished

Those 3 days have Given me a stem

In the horizon my stem comes out the ground

As a new sun rises that 3rd day

Given to the stems of the Earth a purpose and HE is risen

But I must be here for something

We must be here for something

Me, You, All of us,

We were Given a purpose

We might just look at ourselves as insignificant seeds

But His body, his love, HIS GLORY

Given to us this grass field

We are the garden to his Kingdom. We never stop blooming.

On rainy days, stormy days, snowy days, he watered us still.

Our stems kept growing.

He would not take those whips for nothing.

If asked Why he loves us so much?

We aren’t Given that answer directly.

But its That Why that is Given to us, our purpose.

That Why, is what is keeping me from ripping myself from my roots.

I am flower

I have imperfections

My leaves fall

My pedals fall

My stem bends

I die one day. For I come from Ashes and to ashes I shall return.

But when the storm passes, My seed is REVIVED

New Life Is Given to me

Why? I may not know.

But I shall continue until He comes again.

With him, I am okay

I am Okay

And I will always be okay

3 Nails + 1 Cross = 4 Given.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
