You went running into a dark night,
Picked out a star and followed that light.
Promised you would return a better man.
Set foot on a new adventure,
You swore that you would have all answers you sought.
Praying before you sleep,
Chanting in tongues you cannot speak,
All to find the answers to the lives we've assembled.
Climbed the highest mountain because they swore it would bring you peace,
Walked across the desert with nothing to eat or drink,
Sailed across the ocean with the wind in your sails,
All Because they told you it would you bring closer to some divinity,
Searching for God in the church that takes all your worth,
On your knees in temples bowing to deflect a curse,
In the mountains seeking direction under some tree,
Talking to the priests who sold their soul to be a part of the feast.
Gurus told you they had the key to show you way,
All for a small price of all that you have left.
You're an older man now,
Yet still searching,
Holding onto the smallest amount of hope you have left.
When will the madness stop?
Will you ever see that the key, the answers to all of your questions,
Have simply been inside you.
