Poetry doesn't receive the attention it deserves! Reading poetry makes you think outside the box and can increase your vocabulary. Poetry is something you can also deeply connect with. These five poems are important works of literary art and are easily relatable to young adults.

Theme For English B by Langston Hughes

This is just a small part of the poem. I first read this in my 10th grade English class and it's still one of my favorites.

Still I Rise by Maya Angelou

This is also just a small clip of the poem. "Still I Rise" is an empowering poem that teaches us to always get back up.

Shake The Dust by Anis Mojgani

After hearing this poem, the phrase "Shake The Dust" has become one of my mottos.

Helen Keller by Langston Hughes

This poem is a beautiful tribute to an iconic woman that inspires others to find their inner power.
