Wishes.
They're the candles
that line cakes
the stars
that fall across the sky
the wind
that blows and releases dandelions from their stems.
Wishes constantly fill our mind
with a relief that
one day they will be a dream
turned into a reality
without giving much thought to it.
They'll simply just come true.
There is one wish, however
that I struggle with
more than any other.
I wish I had known you
before you died.
Because you see,
wishing for something that's
already dead is more
difficult than wishing
for something that is already
alive.
It is a wish that cannot come true,
because even as hard as I try,
the candles will not blow out
the stars will not fall across the sky
and the dandelions will not set themselves free.
The only thing I can dare to wish
is that wherever you are
you still think of me.
