3 Poems By The Guy Who Hates Poetry

In This Article:

I've written a few poems for a creative writing class. If you know me personally, you know I hate poems in general, so I was pretty surprised by what I came up with. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

"My Future"

Sometimes I wonder what I will become.

It pains me to wonder if I'll be good enough.

Will I end up becoming a no one?

I tell them I'm certain, but do they see my bluff?

I want to write for certain that's a fact.

Entertainment and gaming pieces are my specialty.

I write all day until it's time to hit the sack.

The feedback good and bad and yes some given brutally.

The competition's fierce and not letting up.

New and new positions are filling up day by day.

I'm not letting anything get in my way even if they say my writing sucks.

Cause I'll be the one at the top rubbing it in with my pay.

So, for now, I wake up with the sun shining down on my face.

Learning everything I can until the final day comes at last.

This is my dream and it's damn sure the one I'll chase.

To all the non-believers and haters, you can kiss my ass.

This sonnet is basically depicting how I'm a little bit worried about my future profession and how it's not going to be a cakewalk getting there. I depicted my emotions well which was my intention because I want the reader to understand how I feel about the subject of my future.

"Funko Addition"

Dust rests upon the flat surfaces of its

cardboard home.

Congregating with others and welcoming new members.

With its own origin

story to tell.

One that's not easily attainable for the average collector.

Its value is a lot higher than the others,

which makes it stand out.

The rare

San Diego Comic-Con Scott Pilgrim Funko.

Accomplishment, Pride,

A worrying concern.

Four years of collecting

does that to you.

My wallet screeches and despises my thirst for more

and begs for mercy.

I'm woven inside this Funko collecting fabric and

the way out is far from reach.

Even though it's just a piece of plastic it has

meaning behind it to me.

Like the mafia says.

"Nothing personal. It's just business."

As I display the POP among the others I

step back and view them

I see all the countless amount of money

that has gone into collecting

I constantly wonder if hobbies are

meant to be this expensive.

Nonetheless, I keep the

pursuit going to have more.

I revamped the first Funko story and instead of talking about the collection as a whole I tried focusing on one whole one instead. I talked mainly about how this Funko is very different from the other ones because of how it's a lot more expensive. I also talk about how the price of the expensive Funko worries me as well. I like this version more than the first one I wrote, and I'm happy with how it turned out.

"Concept of Love"

Love is a difficult concept to understand.

All the little variables and factors that have a certain role to play.

Not only is it this joyous feeling we crave.

It can cause hardships, stress, and confusion.

Have you ever lied awake at night wondering why haven't you found it?

Questioned whether you made the right decision or not.

Why doesn't he or she feel the same way about you?

Are you doing something wrong?

Will you end up alone and empty?

It's not up to us to make that decision.

You'reYour either living long enough to experience it,

Or you end up living to see others in it.

There's always a light at the end of the tunnel though.

Hope and love always find a way to breakthrough.

Cause in the end,

Love conquers all right?

I thought the best thing to talk about is love because I feel like that's the most relatable topic for the reader. We all have been in love at a certain point in our lives and experienced ups and downs from it. So, I wrote them all down in the poem. I love how this poem turned out, and I hope you do too.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
