Poems For All

Writing poetry can be a way to help express yourself, never be afraid to put what you are feeling on paper.

Throughout my life I have used writing poems as a way to help me through different situtations. I have decided to share some of them with you. I hope that you can relate one or two or just enjoy reading them for the fun of it. Warning: Some of them contain quite cheesy content.

Trust In Him

Fury and anger can cause a great scene.

What happened to you was terribly mean.

You fell hard in love for a fool or two.

So you closed off your heart,

what else could you do?

They expect you to heal without any time.

It’s not that easy,

it’s not worth the climb.

To get out of that pit,

takes a clean helping hand.

God has given you one,

He has a plan.

Forgiveness is key in wanting to heal.

It brings closure and peace and no sketchy deal.

You fought your way out.

To get back on the tracks.

This time you won’t fail,

‘cause God’s got your back.

The Thoughts Chase

Running. Sprinting. Trying to hide.

You think you’ve lost them,

in just enough time.

Twisting. Spinning. Hoping to win.

The battle you’ve had,

has been deep within.

Dwindling. Slowing. Needing to survive.

You’re thoughts have caught you,

was the decision right this time?

Waiting. Yearning. Wanting to know.

Did you dispose of the evil?

Did you know where to go?

Answering. Calming. Surprisingly good.

The beautiful mind,

is misunderstood.

When Life Knocks

Pull open the door and don’t let it go.

You have miles ahead, it’s not a short road.

A journey is one that takes risks every day.

Trust in yourself and let nothing in the way.

Opportunities come once and awhile.

Give it the hope to one day make you smile.

When your task is so big, you’re afraid you might fall.

Give strength to your God and stand up tall.

The road eventually ends and you’ll never know when.

Keep pushing yourself so you’re proud at the end.

Senses

Open your eyes.

Sit back and find a new perspective.

Everything is moving so quickly,

yet you don’t hear a sound.

Open your ears.

Sit back and examine the present.

Everything is changing around you,

yet you don’t feel a thing.

Open your hands.

Sit back and imagine the future.

Everything will soon be different,

yet you can’t taste a victory.

Open your mouth.

Sit back and savor the flavors.

Everything is coming to senses,

yet you can’t smell the roses.

Open your nose.

Sit back and admire the beauty.

Everything is in color and alive,

yet you can’t see a thing.

Confusion

Confusion and doubt is common among me.

I get myself worked up with the what it could be.

If I stay silent, our friendship will always remain.

But it will tear gently at my heart and for sure ache my brain.

Telling you will not be easy, that I have no doubt.

The moment that you hear the truth, I hope you don’t run out.

I need you in my life because you push me to be better each day.

I really hope these feelings just don’t get in the way.

If it was something I could control, I’d flip the switch to off.

Then I wouldn’t have the pain of the feeling I’m not enough.

I hope to one day speak to you and find the true romance.

Did you ever care, did I really have a chance?

Follow Him

Be free of mind and spirit. Let God be in control.

He will show you the way,

to achieve your final goal.

Fighting what He tells you, just takes more time away.

Listen closely to each word,

and don’t forget to pray.

Thank God for all His blessings. The Earth, the trees, the sky.

Thank God for all He’s given you.

The things that keep you alive.

For without Him, what would you be? Nothing to this world.

No joy, no peace, no hope to dream.

A simple boy or girl.

Choose His light to follow, and be confident in who you are.

God has made you perfect.

So you can shine just like a star.

If you stuck with me through those poems to the end, thank you, you're incredible!

10 Truths About Being In A Sorority

(For Girls Who Are Interested In Greek Life)

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
