Here is part two of my poem series: 'Poems from Chicago':

A city of broken dreams
Full of empty promises
Sucked of hope for tomorrow
Brick by brick
Scattered among the trash
Lowly, poor, destitute
Chicago
A barrier between the have and have nots
Of yearning for a better tomorrow
But no opportunity to be any more than the status quo
You haven't been locked up? You will be soon, here in Chicago
What do you do with your privilege?
Bury into your own desires or help those who need it more?
Calling all the wealthy to help the less fortunate in Chicago
No privacy, you hear your neighbors cry for help
But you stare straight ahead into the bleak sky
Won't look your neighbor in the eye
Chicago
Big corporations
But who benefits?
Do you even know who you're working for?
Do you know where your kids go to school?
Do you know what I know?
Chicago
It's great to live in a big city
Came here for opportunity
But soon found
It wasn't what I wanted
Packed a bag and set off to another destination
Maybe I'll return in the near future
Chicago, I'll see you later
