Poems About Nothing

"Pilot"

“A show about nothing?”

“Nothing”

Who wants to hear about nothing?

I assure you I do

Me and my crew?

We’re always discussing nothing

What car you ridin

which chick you cuffin?

All the little bits of huffin and puffin we do to

blow the house down

set the roof on fire

Do whatever we can to inspire

Before we expire.

See there's a bit more to nothing

Nothing is intangible

Love and friendship

learning and life

Nothing is freedom

Nothing is expression

Nothing is the Rule and Nothing is the exception

I know nothing about nothing

Nothing is everything that everything is not

Nothing is anything

and that means a lot

"The Jacket"

We all just wanna sing don’t we

be the Master of the House

Nobody wants snow on their parade

Everybody wants to be the funny guy

Everybody wants to impress

Everyone wants to persuade

so we put on

so we put on that fur or suede

or some kind of brocade barricade

And we aren’t born were made

and once those walls fall

were pretty much the same

just singing in the Snow

"The Library"

Bricks, books, and shelves

All simple by design, but provide me support that may pass by an untrained eye

see, in these pages I can fly in the sky or swim through the

sea, blue and light like her eyes when she starts to cry

She always do that when she reads a character die

She lets it out slowly, deep inhale and a sigh

And I can’t mouth a reply

let the emotions go

immerse yourself

in the page

the words

Let them support you

The Bricks The Books The Shelves

"The Shoes"

Men will be men

And girls will be too

But we all go crazy when it comes to the shoes

I won't pay my dues

and who knows what I’ll lose

But I gotta get my hands on those new white shoes

That boot is my muse

My mind I lose when I see the Sport Blues

It’s no longer rainy when I see the new Laney

It's all OK in the brand new KD

Paid 250 but the dust bag came free

Ask for a trade and it's fuck you, pay me

Like a prostitute

My shoe game puts the rest on mute

You got better? Man that's a hoot

They don't got my size

I gotta buy online

But I don't mind

Paying the 10.99

To increase my shine

My sneaks as fresh as Sol Pine

And that's why yer girl stay on my line

"The Glasses"

O say Can you see?

Can you see?

Can you see me?

Can you see? Can you see me

Through those

Coke bottle bottoms

And wire rims?

Old man in the corner sipping his skim

Must be something wrong with me

In my white Nikes

And jewelry

Pants on the ground,

Thinkin I must be on some foolery

“Nothing good could come from the mouth of this man.”

Hold Up, Wait a minute, let me spit, man

See I got a plan

“Oh yeah and what’s that? ‘Spit’ Raps, get a deal, and tell everyone that you stayed real? Pretend you do something that actually takes skill? Make a mill and spend it all on cars, bottles, and your shoe bill?”

Is that what you see?

Is that what you see?

Is that what you see, what you see

Through those

Coke bottle bottoms

Wire rims?

Sitting on my desk as I write these lines

Handwriting puts 'em shoulder to shoulder like soldiers in fatigues

Sipping on my Folgers, fighting fatigue

It’s gonna be a late night

Got a term paper on fight or flight

End of semester is in my sight

Fighting fatigue with all my might

What do you see?

What do you see?

What do you see, do you see?

My Old Man and Me

Sippin on Some Jim

I’ll go out on a limb

And say he doesn’t understand

My decision

Or my vision

“A poetry degree?

That school wasn’t for free.

At least not for me.

What can you even do? What are you gonna be?

I just can't see.”

Here, papa, take these

Coke bottle bottoms

Wire rims

Maybe now you can see

You can see

You can see

I gotta be

Me

"The Kiss Hello"

Kiss hello,

open your door

Pull your chair out

Look at your face

and the whole room starts to blur out

Your beauty gives me blinders

Youre the apple of my eyes

If the life's a game

then You're my prize

The table collects drips

As she turns her head and cries

Cuz you wore a false disguise

Which led to our demise

I would've gave you my world

We could've flown through the skies

Instead you're out with other guys

With their "real jobs" and fancy ties

ITS NOT MY FAULT I'M OVERQUALIFIED EVERYWHERE THAT I'VE APPLIED

Should we have even tried?

I've swallowed all my pride

We both got nothing left to hide

The lips that kissed hello

Also kissed goodbye

"The Seven"

Woo!

we’re more than halfway through

And Ima Have some fun

I hope you will too

Okay my rhymes too sick like they got the flu

My green long like I don't mow the lawn

You left for a second and your girl was gone

I took’er and bang’er sisters like Goldie Hawn

My girl like her daughter maybe hotter

She say i got the magic, Harry Potter

See me, Look like I won the lotter-E.

B. Dubois

See Me and My boys

throw cash and she

Bounce it like a teeter-totter

Gimme a beat and I’ll make it a Slaughter

Like the Sergeant

I beg your pardon

We just havin a lil fun.

ITS NOTHING

"The Yada Yada"

Yada Yada

And more about nothing

We almost to the end now

So dont shorten it for me

I promise you wont bore me with your stories

We could talk about nothing

And damn that’d be something

Like the singer with the extra finger

I’d trade it all away for that one thinger

We need more than a right swipe tinder

Really light my fire

Show me desire

Pump the pistons

Make me blow a tire

If Kanye can spit fire through the wire

You can spice it up like worcestershire

These other girls might be fighting for the spot

But you can do like Rocky V

make em wanna retire

"The Finale"

Im so tired
It must've been a goodyear
And I swear I seen my name on the blimp
And I swear I won a championship
In another I swear I'll be on a leer
With something more than this cold beer
A french maid wiping down my mirr(mirror)
So I can see myself o! Real nice and clear
Every morn
Damn I make myself get horn
And these models around me

and they be adoring
Mike Trout at the plate and you know im scoring
Don't that sound boring?
Cuz it ain't real its fictional
Made you believe with my rap diction though
Lemme get to real shit, no will smith
Lemme get to who helped build this
The momma and the poppa
Made sure I aint grow up a sucka
Never start a fight but you betterhit back
Make sure they know they needa get back
If you see trouble, son, you don't sit back

O! Daddy tought me how be a mack

And my my Momma told me find one who makes up what you lack
That's why I. got some holes in my jeans
But no hoes in these jeans
Bet I bust if you talk about those sharing my genes

Or sharing my dreams
and our lives are like primetime scenes
We gettin paid in love
Directed and produced by the man above
And the Emmy goes to all of you

For supporting roles
And helping me to reach my goals

Without you
Life would be

Something we just cant believe

We all cheat in this contest of life whether on her or me.

And I must confess, that you look wonderful in that dress

And it may seem that we’re going down

And the path is unclear

But the pilots still here

We may go through trials unfair(unfear)

Have our character tested

But at the end it’s all real and it’s spectacular

And were back where we started George

Trading words back and forth

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.
