To my loved one that I lost,
Did you know it would hurt so bad when you left?
Did you think that because you saw us all happy, we would be able to keep it together once you were gone?
Did you think of how our lives would change, once you weren't in them?
Did you make that last Christmas Eve count?
Did you know it would be your last day?
I know you're watching from above, but let me just say,
I never want to feel pain like that again. (but I did)
We were shattered, but we only grew closer.
There is a little less joy, a little less light, with you not here.
I have that memory of you from Christmas Eve, and I think it was meant to be.
I just want to know that you were ready.
And I have so many more questions. So many things I want to say one more time.
Do you miss the beach as much as we miss going with you?
Do you miss the "Money Tree" as much as we miss the magic?
Do you miss the walks with your new grandchild in the stroller?
Do you miss us as much as we miss you?
Do you know how much we love you?
