The baseball flew across the sky in an arc, going way up high. Then it began to fall from up there causing us all to stop and stare.
The ball landed in the fielder's glove with a resounding smack And the stadium erupted like an army on the attack. Yells filled the area with a sound that was oh so loud. Welcome to the joy of being part of the crowd.
I stopped yelling and turned to look at my Pa and he looked back as if he couldn't believe what he just saw. After all these years our team were the champs and he told me that he couldn't wait to call gramps.
And call him he did, as soon as we were home. They talked while I waved a finger of styrofoam. They talked all through the night, till the morning bells began to chime and they both expressed love for America's Pastime.
