morning is resplendent and bright
eyes are saturated with phosphenes
heart cannot reconcile the war inside
little soldiers breathe in the smoke of conflict
lives flickering and blink,
until parenchyma populates laconically sliced veins
there are orphic thoughts in my mind
that cannot pass my lips.
just as the river dwindles down slippery stones,
stars drip down black skies
clouds seep in and out of minds,
the snow coalesced outside the heart
hands aquiver, ephemeral light illuminating eyes
incandescence inciting perspiration
so close we can touch,
but we repel
like antiscians in the resplendent morning
