Soaring through the sky, I fly free
I feel the wind beneath my soft delicate wings
Showing off my beautiful smokey grey feathers,
I look fearless
The sun radiant and overpowering,
Not knowing where to turn next,
I ask myself, where do I belong?
I feel lonely
I can see everything beneath me,
From the small details of a little girl's button,
To frogs leaping on lily pads
I am the third eye
As I watch a duck nurture her ducklings,
I remember why I flew off in the first place
Hunting for food, I head off
I know where I must go
As I perch myself on a nearby branch
I come to a nest of three baby birds
All of them huddled together and smiling,
I am home
