In the United States,

in the year 2016,

rights are at stake,

but to the privileged, everything seems pristine.

Liars, rapists, abusers, accusers.

We cannot tolerate this on either side.

While our options may seem bleak and limited,

we cannot let things slide.

We must protect our rights, our freedoms, our choices, our people.

We are all human beings,

but some people, our candidates, spend their whole lives

not caring, not seeing.

To our candidates, we are voters, not people.

We're just money and numbers

that will give victory to one.

We cannot continue to slumber.

As the election approaches

and the candidates blab and we cower in fear,

keep the words of the Lorax in mind.

They're very clear.

"Unless someone like you

cares a whole awful lot,

nothing is going to get better.

It's not."
