So unless you've been living under a rock for the past five years, chances are that you have heard of a show called "Pretty Little Liars." And whether you watch the show, found out from a friend or just logged onto social media that night, you know that the big finale just took place on August 11. The writers finally told us the truth, rather than leading us to believe a different character was A when they really weren't, like they did for the past few seasons. In case you missed the finale or just didn't care enough to watch the whole thing, here's what you missed:
Throughout the whole show, fans have been begging the writers to tell us who A is.
You read every theory on the Internet and even came up with some of your own.
But when the night came along, you still really had no idea who would be A.
Finally the clock turns to 8:00 and you are planted on your couch.
The episode starts and you have no idea what is going on. All you do is sit and stare at the screen like this:
It's an incredibly confusing time for you.
The opening credits roll and the liars are back at the prom. It's soon revealed that Mona was there, watching them. Suddenly, Mona doesn't seem too innocent anymore.
I think we all always had suspicions about Mona, but she explains herself, and she has the answers they need, so I guess the girls really have nothing else to lose.
The scene changes, and you see Jason's body being dragged across the floor and Alison wake up in a room in Radley with her (presumably) dead father lying on the floor.
You really did not see this coming. Is A (or Charles) trying to kill off all of Ali's family so it'll just be him and her?
The liars break into A's super high-tech and unrealistic lair (somewhat easily) and Sara refuses to go in right before the door closes and locks. Coincidence?
The girls access a camera in Radley and finally, after years of watching, we get to see who A is. And it's Cece?!
Well, there goes your theory. You try to figure out how this is possible, but nothing makes sense.
After hearing Cece's story, you do feel a little bad for her.
She didn't originally mean to hurt Ali. And then Cece explains the whole Charles thing and maybe the whole transgender plotline is a tad cliche in light of Caitlyn Jenner, but it kind of makes sense?
As the story unfolds, we learn Bethany Young pushed Toby's mom off the roof and blamed it on Charles.
The story is interrupted by video footage of Red Coat in Radley, setting up explosives.
But if Cece is actually Charles, who's Red Coat?
And if Cece is Charles, does that mean she dated her own brother by being with Jason?
Oh, it most certainly does.
Cece explains more and all the events that took place the night Ali disappeared suddenly make sense.
DUH.
As for becoming A, apparently Cece met a very drugged-up Mona in Radley and got the idea to take over the 'A game' from her. She wanted to make the girls' lives a living hell because they were happy that Ali was dead.
Not exactly a good enough motive to torture the girls.
And Cece reveals that Sara was black widow, and soon enough, the girls see that she's also Red Coat and this glorious moment happens:
Bitch had it coming.
Cece declares that the game is over. We skip ahead into the future and we get to see the girls (FINALLY) pack their cars and leave for college.
Is it just me or were they high school seniors for at least three years?
We skip ahead another five years (wow, they're moving through time quite quickly now), and there's talk of someone coming for Ali. Here we go again.
So, there you have it. The most stressful and ridiculous hour of television of 2015 condensed into the best of Hanna Marin GIFs.
