To The People Who Say 'Yes' Too Much

Think about what you really want to say.

We say "yes" to please others. We say "yes" to fit in with the majority. We say "yes" because we feel Iike we have to. We are people pleasers.

Some of you may not even think about this, but it is definitely common among many people. Have you ever felt like you said "yes" just because? Or have you ever wanted to say no, but said "yes" still? Have you ever been scared to say "no"?

Well, sometimes people are constantly pleasing others. They are agreeing to whatever the majority says and going with it. They are forgetting the individuality that makes them who they are. They forgetting that they can have their own say.

I want you to think about this. In elementary school, when the whole class chose blue, wouldn't you want to choose blue? When you're picking a restaurant with friends, is there always one person who begs to pick or they aren't coming?

Chances are, every one of us experiences these kinds of things each and every day. Sometimes we may find ourselves saying "yes" too much. Yes, it is possible. You do not have to agree if you don't. You do not have to change your opinion if yours differs. You do not have to eat McDonald's if you really wanted Wendy's. It could be the smallest example, but pleasing yourself little by little, will show you the difference.

Sometimes, I feel like many people say "yes" too much because they are scared to be different. It's easier to say "yes" and shake your head and nod. Whether you agree to some extent, you need to listen to how you really feel.

If we spend our whole lives pleasing others, we will look back wondering where our fun was. We will wonder why we didn't do the things we wanted. We will wonder why we didn't follow our hearts and dreams.

It is vital to listen to yourself. If you feel like you want to say "no," say "no."

You are you.

You think a specific way for a reason.

You like certain things that you like.

You have a right to this.

Now, some of you may be thinking of drastic situations involving peer pressuring yes or no questions, but this can lead back to even simpler things. If you want to spend alone time verse hangout with friends, you are allowed to. If you want to eat hibachi today for lunch, you are allowed to. If you want to vote for the Democratic Party, you are allowed to.

We all have the right to say "yes" or "no," and I think it is very important to say what you really mean. Don't change to please others.

Be you. You don't want to look back and feel like you said "yes" too much.

Mistakes are something we all make, no matter how old we get. Most of the time, the mistakes we made are little and sometimes due to something out of our control. Yet, there are mistakes that are bigger than others. Personally, I have mistakes that I wish I could go back and undo. Here they are:

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.
