This presidential election has been clouded with an enormous swarm of negativity, social media backlash, and complaining from the voting population and I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t absolutely sick of it. I am so sick of the continuous complaining by constituents who believe that a negative Facebook post will change anything in our political arena. It won’t. Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump are our presidential candidates and while it is not necessarily an ideal position to be in as country, we have to deal with it and do our very best to make changes in policies and issues that we see in need of desperate change.
Ok so, Hilary sent e-mails from a personal account and is considered a liar while Trump is viewed as being a racist and sexist. These candidates in the eyes of many are far from being ideal options to be the face of the United States of America and to be the one to combat our internal economic and social problems. However, as a voting population, we have to uphold the responsibility of turning a blind eye to the scandal and the name calling of these candidates for just a moment and vote on a candidate that we see as being the best to run our country based on their platform and stance on large issues. Yes, it may feel as though you are choosing the best out of the worst, but this is who we have as options, and we just have to deal with it. I am by no means saying that you are not allowed to feel disappointed in who we are having on the ballot this term, but please channel the negative driven energy of calling Clinton a liar or Trump a racist in your Facebook posts into other political outlets.
Fortunately, neither Clinton or Trump will be the dictator of the United States, so use that awesome fact to your advantage!! We have a legislative branch filled with congressmen, congresswomen, and senators who are more than willing (in most cases) to hear your concerns. So, write to your legislative branch. Participate in local politics. Volunteer on a campaign for a new supervisor in your town. Work with a nonprofit who's message corresponds with yours. Vote in the presidential election even though you are disappointed with the candidates. Read on issues that you want to witness being changed. Know what you stand for. Know that a single president cannot and should not dictate the energy our nation has for one another and our political system. You can be the change.
Complaining, while it does allow you to blow off some steam for a brief amount of time, will do nothing regarding who is on the ballot this November. Channel complaining into making changes you want to see in your community, voicing issues that you want to see be addressed, and policy you wish to see be created.
