Please, Stop Asking Dumb Questions

There is such a thing as "dumb questions"

I hate to be very blunt, but "there's not such thing as a dumb question" is complete and utter crap. People ask dumb questions all the time but no one will acknowledge it and call them out. Why is that? Are we afraid of confrontation?

Just today at work, I work in a restaurant, I had a customer call me and ask a simple question– "What's the largest size pizza you have?" So I responded with "A large." The customer then proceeded to say "So you don't have extra larges?" I couldn't help but get really annoyed. Part of me wanted to say "You know what as a matter of fact I'm a liar and we actually have extra larges," but I just replied with "No we just have larges, sir." Stuff like this happens all the time though and I've reached my breaking point.

As a species we are extremely evolved in comparison to the other beings who inhabit our planet. Why can we not understand simple concepts? If you ask a specific question and receive a specific answer, why would you question it? I gave you an answer that's specific to your question and entirely true. Why do people not understand this?

There is certain times in which I understand answers not being clear to questions, which you can then question more. But for the love of god people, if someone gives you a very straight answer to a very straightforward question, what is confusing? Why do you feel the need to question what answer was given to you, let alone by someone who was extremely qualified to answer your question.

We are a society of extremely educated people. We are all aware that people can lie, that's always a possibility, but we are usually very open about things. Dumb questions are a thing, I'm sure most of us have experienced them. I don't think it's much to ask of people to not ask dumb questions anymore. There are certain situations that are very transparent, in which case questions don't need to be asked. There are also some questions that i understand need to be asked, but when you receive an answer, don't question it.

Dumb questions are extremely annoying and can ruin someone's day. They can be so utterly ridiculous that it can ruin someone's whole day or week. If you receive an answer, stick with it. That person is not lying to you. We are all on this Earth to help other people and explain things others don't understand, so please, DO NOT QUESTION PEOPLE WHEN YOU GET A STRAIGHTFORWARD ANSWER. People are for the most part honest with you, and you should realize that. Stop being crappy people for once.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
