Boys, I know that culture today says that chivalry is dead. Girls today are supposed to be independent and self-reliant, and to tell them else wise is politically incorrect. Women should be able to open their own doors, pay for their own meals and even have children on their own if want to. And maybe I'm just a girl from the South, but I do feel like I'm speaking for all girls when I say this: please still do these things for me!
Please meet my family.
I know that it can be hard, especially in college. But please want to meet my family. They mean a lot to me and I want them to be able to meet you. When you're invited to a family dinner, don't tell me that you aren't interested. It is extremely important.
Please open the door for me.
I am obviously completely capable of opening the door for myself, but it's still nice when you do it anyway. If it's getting out of the car or going into a restaurant, it still shows me that you care enough to let me go first.
Please pay for my dinner (at least sometimes...)
I am also capable of paying for my own dinner, but it's nice that you have a place for me in your budget. It's nice that you want to take me out on a date when you could spend your money doing anything else. But girls, if you have a boyfriend, it's also nice to offer to pay for it sometimes, even if you don't have to.
Please respect me.
There are still some girls who want to set boundaries. Most girls don't, but when I tell you that I want to wait, I mean it. Just because it isn't what everyone else is doing, doesn't mean it isn't important to me.
Please love God more than me.
Yes, please love Him more than me. If you don't have a relationship with God first, you will never love me the way I am called to be loved. If you love Him more than me, I will be loved more by you than I could ever ask for.
