I know I may be young Mommy, but I’m smarter than you think.
I notice when you skip a meal, and pour another drink.
I hear you in my room at night, trying not to cry.
I still pretend to sleep though because I know you’ll never tell me why.
I love it when you play with me, and yell and laugh and smile.
But mommy can you tell me why, we haven’t had that in a while?
I love to lay my head down on your chest and hear the beat,
Of the heart that I always know will be filled with love for me.
I know it’s rough now Mommy, but I promise we’ll be fine.
I promise it’ll be okay, you’ve just got to give it time.
We can grow together, and learn hand in hand.
You’ve just got to have patience, and I know it’ll go as planned.
So please, keep your head up, and never say never.
