Current U.S. President Barack Obama and Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton have urged their supporters to give President-Elect Donald Trump a chance. However, this urge has not been met kindly. There have been countless protests, riots, hate speeches, name calling, etc., ever since America found out early morning on Wednesday, November 9th, Donald J. Trump won the president election in a very close race with opponent, Hillary Clinton. Mr. Trump received 290 electoral college votes, while Mrs. Clinton received 228 electoral college votes. Clinton supporters, many of whom were celebrities, were outraged that Trump won. Pop music singer Lady Gaga protested outside of Trump tower on Wednesday morning after hearing the news. Other celebrities like Lena Dunham, Amy Schumer, Miley Cyrus, Chelsea Handler (to name a few, there have been countless others) have threatened to move out of the U.S. if Trump won the election.
Seriously? I know Donald Trump is not the most glamorous candidate and that he has made a lot of bad comments. However, this is the man who will be leading our country starting in January of 2017. He has NOT even set foot into the oval office and people are BURNING the American Flag, rioting in cities such as New York, Oakland, Washington D.C. and more. This is ridiculous. Yes I know that there are people who cannot stand Trump. Burning the flag, rioting to the point that police officers have to use tear gas, is out of hand. Trump has made some comments that have upset women, members of the LGBTQ community, people of different races and more. But we are in a difficult spot in the lifespan of our country. We are $18 trillion in debt, have a threat of extreme Islamic terrorist group ISIS coming to destroy our cities, millions living in poverty, a health care system that isn't the best that our country could have in terms of getting health care to everyone, homeless veterans, and many more. Hillary Clinton would of had to face those same issues, and I hope that she would of solved most, if not all of them to restore our country back to greatness, and I sincerely hope President elect Donald Trump does everything in his power to solve those issues and prove that his presidency was not a mistake.
