Tennis is frequently referred to as one of those "forever sports" which you can play even when you've grown older; people of all ages are always at local parks rallying with friends, practicing serves, or even playing matches, often just for fun. I didn't start playing until I was 14, but I quickly progressed and ultimately ended up being 1st singles (still not really sure how). But because of the craziness that is college, until I started teaching tennis again, I hadn't picked up a racquet in months. And to be completely honest, I actually really missed a lot about it.
1. The cute outfits.
But why do they have to be so darn expensive?
2. The feeling of hitting a winning shot straight down the line.
Best feeling in the world.
3. Or an ace.
Rare, but confidence-boosting.
4. Or any winner at all.
Cue the automatic celebrations.
5. Winter training.
Although I never wanted to go at the time, I missed practicing every week on the indoor courts. Our trainer was a little crazy sometimes (no offense, Ilja) but my friends and I would always have fun while gradually improving, so it was a win-win for everyone.
6. Being a part of a team.
Being able to encourage teammates and, in turn, have people rooting for you was a great feeling.
7. Tournaments.
The County Tournament was always a highlight of the season.
8. Being outside.
I felt like I was deprived of Vitamin D and fresh air because I barely went outside anymore.
