If you aren't playing the new and exciting Pokemon game, you have at least heard of it. To recap, Pokemon Go is a new virtual game available on certain smart phones. The game allows you to hunt down Pokemon that are in real life places. Not to mention battle these Pokemon at real life locations that are considered gyms. There are even real-life locations given the name of Pokestops to help the Pokemon hunters get supplies, like Pokeballs.
If this doesn't bring back childhood memories I do not know what will. If you are like me and never played Pokemon in your past, don't you worry. You too will be hooked very soon. Maybe it's the thrill of catching little virtual creatures, or the idea kids are now getting active, but this game has people hooked.
The Pokemon Go game requires the player to walk around in order to collect Pokemon and hatch eggs. In fact, the game has set amounts of distance the player needs to walk in order to hatch the egg ranging from 2 km to 10 km. Not only has this game changed peoples minds about Pokemon, but it also has them getting more fit in the process. Could this game be the cure to childhood obesity? The world may soon find out.
Not only is this game great for getting active, but The Pokemon Company with Nintendo has made billions in the few short days it has been out. It also has hit the number one spot on the App Store. This game is a complete game changer, and could possibly be moving more games into real life simulation style. This would include real time, real travel games that gamers needed to be fully involved in in-order to level up and/or win. Personally, I'm excited to see what Nintendo's and The Pokemon Company's competitors can come up with. This could be the revolution of the gaming industry.
Whether it's the thrill of having a childhood past-time coming to life, the thrill of catching little creatures, or the new style of gaming Pokemon Go uses - I think we all can agree that this game is a step in the door to bigger and better technology all around.
My favorite part of this whole revolutionary idea however is what extremes people are going to in-order to get these Pokemon. Just the other day a boy fell in a pond because he was playing this game. That's dedication right there. Also, the numerous accidents that have occurred due to people trying to play and drive at the same time. I can't deny that I have done this. But, with all fun and games there are some downfalls, like the people setting up sites to attract Pokemon there, and when people show up they are being mugged. So my advice to all would be to stay safe, stay alert, and keep catching those Pokemon. The real question we should all be concerned about is: 'Where are these kids getting the data to play this game 24/7?'
