Playboy is not an uncommon name. Whether you know them from the movie "The House Bunny" or from their magazine, you have probably heard of Playboy at least once. The Playboy Mansion, inhabited by the famous Hugh "Hef" Hefner, founder of Playboy, hit the market recently, and is up for grabs to anyone with $200 million during a hole in their pocket. But, there is a catch. Hef gets to continue living there.
CEO Scott Flanders said that the strategic sale decision will allow Playboy “to continue to reinvest in the transformation of our business."
Hefner bought the house in 1971 for just over $1 million dollars, and has continued to live there with his numerous girlfriends. The house and magazine used to be famous for its sex and nudity, but has calmed down in more recent years.
Unfortunately though, the house is being drawn into Bill Cosby's crimes of assaulting women. Two of the 60 women who were assaulted and/or drugged by Cosby said it happened in the mansion.
The mansion sits on five acres in Los Angeles' Holmby Hills. The mansion is 20,000 square feet and has 29 rooms, as well as a four bedroom guest house. It also has a home theater, gym, tennis court, swimming pool and a zoo license. The next owner will get all of these things, as well as Hef continuing to stay there.
