I heard on the news early this week that Pokemon Go, the app, became the top iPhone app in the U.S. in the first hours of being up-and-running. It has more users than Twitter, it has surpassed the amount of Candy Crush users (at it's prime) and it is set to have more users than Google Maps very soon. And it only been usable for a week!
Unfortunately, I think Pokemon Go is just about the most useless game I've ever seen. The server is always crashing causing people to lose all the Pokemon that they worked hard to capture, you have to waste so many Pokeballs to just capture one Pokemon and you risk life and limb just to get a Pokemon: a digital creature you can't even play with in real life.
In honor of Pokemon Go coming out on the digital market, I have compiled a list of activities that would be a lot more entertaining than this game.
1. Go to work (Pokemon Go isn't going to pay the bills.)
2. Binge watch a new TV show on Netflix or Hulu (or at least start one.)
3. Catch up on the recordings on your DVR.
4. Go on a picnic.
5. Go on a road trip.
6. Clean your room.
7. Clean your car.
8. Go see a play at your local community theater (you'd be surprised at the hidden talent in your community.)
9. Volunteer at your local animal shelter and play with the puppies and kittens!
10. Study for your next big exam.
11. Go out on a date with your boyfriend/girlfriend.
12. Download Tinder and see if you can snag you a new friend (do if you dare.)
13. Try a yoga or Zumba class.
14. Read that book you've been wanting to dive into forever.
15. Read the book under the book you just finished.
16. Read all the books you've been meaning to.
17. Go to the movies (Recommendation: The Legend of Tarzan.)
18. Have a garage sale and get rid of all the junk you no longer use!
19. Run in a marathon!
20. Go to church (and not just because it's a Pokestop or a Pokemon gym.)
This is just a short list, but remember there are so many things one can do instead of playing a game all the time. Life is short, stop and smell the roses! Put the phone down and find something more productive to do than capturing Pokemon.
