Dear Athena,
If I'm from wayyyy out of state and am looking for some good, stereotypical "Texas" food that isn't too expensive for my college budget, where do you recommend?
Thanks,
Lauren M.
Dear Lauren,
Everyone will always have a different opinion as to which places are the best. But when I first arrived to school, these were some of the places the locals told me to visit.
1) Fred's
A local favorite located at 915 W Currie St. Stop by for a classic, delicious burger and a laid back atmosphere. If you go, you must try their famous Diablo burger--and fries, of course!
2) Cooper's
for Texas barbecue
3) Rodeo Goat
Located at 2836 Bledsoe St, Rodeo Goat is a semi-new addition to Fort Worth that has acquired many fans. It is a great place to go with friends and experience a unique and delicious burger!
4) Railhead
Railhead Smokehouse is at 2900 Montgomery St. It is said to be good for a casual feel and barbecue, with legendary fries and a sweet and tangy signature sauce.
5) Hard-Eight BBQ
This is a BBQ trip that requires a a long drive out to Stevensville, Texas, but they have a free beer tap and great barbecue.
These are just some of the many great places to eat around the Fort Worth area, and I'm sure many people will agree or disagree with my selections, but I definitely recommend giving these places a shot as well as branching out all over Texas to get the full experience!
Enjoy!
