Best Places I Visited In 2016
Stephanie Batten

2016 was a year of many ups and downs, but for me, it was also a year of travel. I was fortunate enough to explore some new places and revisit familiar places, and for that I am grateful. Here are some of my favorites that I highly recommend putting on your travel list for 2017:

1. London, England

If you know me, you know that London is my favorite city on earth. London will always have a place in my heart for various reasons, like the people, the culture, and the energy the city gives off. I was lucky enough to go to visit my home away from home not once but twice, and the second time was for over a month. I think I know London and the tube better than I know the current city I live in (Minneapolis). I could talk about London for hours, but I won't. I will always tell people to visit this magnificent city at least once in their lifetime.

2. Paris, France

Just a train ride away from London, I was able to visit Paris twice this year as well. Paris is a city filled with history, fashion and art, which are some of the things I love about this French paradise. The main reason Paris will always be a place I love is the food. From macaroons to cheese to crepes to chocolate, Paris sure knows its food. You'll feel like you're eating at a five-star restaurant no matter where you go in the city. It's great and highly recommended to put on anyone's travel list.

3. Toronto, Canada

Go visit our neighbor in the north if you get the chance. Toronto is a fun city and it barely feels like you're in a foreign country, which adds a sense of comfort when exploring the city. And it's true, Canadians really are extremely nice people. There's plenty to do in the city as well like visiting the CN tower, quoting drake everywhere you go, eating poutine, or visiting some local Canadian breweries by the bay. Not a typical place to add to the bucket list, but it's a place that doesn't disappoint.

4. Praia De Rocha, Portugal

Seriously still amazed at the beauty of this European paradise. It's honestly heaven on Earth as you walk along the beaches and through the rock formations. All along the Algarve are beautiful beaches with bright blue water and amazing rock formations. I highly recommend taking a boat ride along the coast as well because you can go into some pretty amazing caves. If I could, I'd go back in a heart beat.

5. Dublin, Ireland

Along with other small towns in Ireland, Dublin was old and fun. If you love history, Dublin is definitely a place to visit as well. Taking a day trip to the Cliffs of Moher was also a highlight of the trip, and I would encourage others to go see them as well. Beware, it gets very windy sometimes and make sure to wear proper walking/hiking shoes. From drinking fresh Guinness to visiting one of the worlds oldest colleges, Dublin did not upset.

Though there were others on my list of travels this year, these were my favorites and the ones I would recommend to anyone who loves to travel as much as I do. Here's to 2017 and more places in the world to explore.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

school
blogspot

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
