When I was little, it was already apparent to those around me that I wanted to go on an adventure. However, I never thought I would be as well traveled as I am today. I am so grateful for every opportunity I have had as I know that a lot of people will never get to experience these things. I recently was lucky enough to go to the west coast and experience the "staples" of thing you must do while in these western states.

So here are some of the highlights of my trip, and things I would 100% suggested you do if you get the chance!

1. A National Park

While I went to Zion National Park in Utah, I would say that getting to experience a nature that is the complete opposite of your own is an extraordinary, and breathtaking experience. Going on the trails and really immersing yourself into nature is something that you will never forget.

2. Viva Las Vegas

While very expensive, Vegas is an area that is like no other. You really don't have to spend anything to enjoy Vegas. You can go into a lot of the themed casinos for free like The Venetian, Caesars Palace, and more.

3. Disney Land and California Adventure

This obviously known as the "happiest place on earth" is one of the cleanest and friendliest amusement parks I have ever been too. While very pricey, if there were one activity to splurge on, it would be tickets to either Disney Land or California Adventure. Both places are great but make sure to do your research on what rides are where and busy they normally are. This will make your experience more pleasant and if you have a smartphone I suggest downloading the app for Apple or Samsung that tell you the wait times on rides.

4. Hollywood Tour

While this may seem like a waste of money, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed my tour. I honestly thought that it would be a waste of money, seeing as I could drive around Hollywood myself, but what I didn't realize how in-depth the guides would go. We went to Venice Beach, Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Boulevard, as well as a couple other places. You really get to look at the scenery when you don't have to worry about where you are going: the guides and drivers do that for you.

5. Universal Studios

While I was expecting another amusement park, this offers a whole lot more. This is totally worth the money despite it being a bit more expensive because this attraction offers the studio tours where you can ride around the back lot where shows and movies are actually filmed. They have some rides on this tour too which is a bonus!

6. Budget friendly

If you are looking for cheaper options, some fun but budget friendly ideas are: walking the beaches, In-Out Burger, seeing the Hollywood sign, and many other things. There are countless actives to do while on the west coast, sometimes you just have to be creative.

Again, I am so thankful to have had this once in a lifetime opportunity. There are so many great things to do everywhere you go, but if you are from upstate New York like me, this is a completely new and life changing time. I would definitely go back again although I must say that the adventurer in me would love to try something new.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
