Students at Tusculum College know how boring living on campus can be sometimes. The campus is extremely small, so one can potentially begin to feel imprisoned. Whether you are looking for an escape from campus life, or something fun to do with your friends during block breaks, Greeneville offers tons of places to enjoy yourself and the company of others.
1. Margarette Falls
Whether you are looking for an easy hiking trail or a place to clear your mind, Margarette Falls is a beautiful place to go. The trail is easily conquered and the waterfall at the end is great for photoshoots and cooling off. Be sure to bring good shoes that you wouldn't mind getting muddy!
2. Sensabaugh Tunnel
Located in Kingsport, TN, Sensabaugh Tunnel is rumored to be home of Mr. Sensabaugh and his entire family--including his newborn baby--whom he murdered and disposed of their bodies in the tunnel.
3. The Hype
Grab a few friends (who are all 21 and up), a reliable DD, and your dancing shoes. Enjoy your night!
4. Viking Mountain
This hiking trail is another must-do in Greeneville. It is longer than Margarette and a bit more challenging, but the view at the top is worth the hike.
5. The Valley
Another 21 and up club that you must experience at least once. It's tradition.
6. Tipton's Cafe
Tipton's is, by far, my personal favorite nook of downtown Greeneville, but their hours are strange and surprisingly convenient for college students. They open up at 10:00PM and stay open through lunch the next day until 2:00 pm. Their prices are cheap and you can only pay in cash. Their Fried Donut Burgers are a MUST HAVE.
7. Mama J's
If you're missing your momma's cooking and your bible study group, you'll appreciate Thursday nights at the SPOT with Mama J's amazing cooking and a relatable sermon for desert.
8. The "TC Beach"
If you don't know where it is, ask someone "to send you their location".
9. Peggy Anne's
If you're craving a donut and don't want to drive 30 minutes to Krispy Kreme, Peggy Anne's is the way to go. Their donuts and pastries are to die for, and so are their prices!
10. Andrew Johnson National Cemetery
If you're anything like me, you'll want to bring a box of tissues. It hits a soft spot.
11. The Haunted Stoplight
Downtown Greeneville is not only home of one of the best nighttime restaurants in the country, it is also home to a ghost of a little girl named Lucille. Lucille was swinging at a public park (now torn down and covered with buildings) when she was kidnapped, raped, and murdered, and her body was never to be found. If you pull up to the stoplight downtown around 1 a.m., park your car and roll the windows down, you can hear the screeching of the metal from the torn-down swing set.
