Top 6 Places To Go If You Are Studying Abroad

From being an EU citizen and as I am currently studying abroad, I have had experiences throughout Europe. These are the places that are must-sees if you find you have a weekend free.

1. Lake Como, Italy

In very northern Italy lies Lake Como that contains the most amazing scenery. Coming during warmer months is more ideal as you can go swimming and travel by boat across the lake. You can also George Clooney's house from the lake.

2. Split, Croatia

The second largest city in Croatia, Split has not only beautiful beaches but also has ruins of ancient Rome. Croatia is also not a major destination for American tourists, which makes it more relaxing.

3. Amsterdam, Netherlands

Amsterdam is a beautiful city and also contains lots of historic sites. There is the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, and so much more. They also have their famous coffee shops that attract many college age kids.

4. Ibiza, Spain

There is no better time to travel to Ibiza then while studying abroad. It's most likely one of your only opportunities to go. Obviously, there are crazy clubs there but there are also beautiful beaches, so definitely go when it's warmer out. It is an experience that you will not want to miss.

5. Paris, France

This is probably on everyone's list, but I believe that given the opportunity one has to go to Paris. It is a breathtaking city with things to do around every corner. The food is also amazing!

6. Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is filled with art and architecture. It is the most visited city in Spain, so there will be a lot of tourists but it is still definitely worth the visit. Barcelona is also known for having extremely fun clubs. It would also be fun to watch a soccer game while you are in Barcelona, as they have extremely rowdy soccer fans.

When I was learning how to talk, I was taught both Portuguese and English at the same time. In elementary school, I started taking mandatory Spanish classes, which I did well in because of my knowledge of Portuguese. Then in high school, on top of taking Spanish, I also started taking French. Now, in college, already fluent in English and Portuguese, I'm in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish, and I have a standard high school level understanding of French.

I am without a doubt one of those people who refuses to start decorating for Christmas or listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving has become an underrated holiday over the years. You barely see any Thanksgiving decorations in stores; it's like they skip right from Halloween to Christmas.

Some universities only get two or three days off for Thanksgiving break. Or, if your university is like mine, you get the whole week off go go home. A whole week off is a long time.
