It's that time of year again where students are moving back to Glassboro to get ready for the next semester at Rowan. Starting up a new semester means old friends reconnecting, frats and sororities recruiting (depending on the semester you're in), and the usual stress that midterms and finals can bring. Holidays and big sporting events also play a huge part in college student's drinking.

So, whether it be a holiday, a big campus event, or just a typical Friday night, here are a few local options to get your drink on! Please don't forget to drink responsibly!

1. Bonesaw Brewing Co.

Located just past Crossings Apartments, this brewery offers beautiful indoor and outdoor seating. There is occasionally a food truck that parks in their parking lot to serve food, or you can either pack some snacks from home or order out from one of the tons of local restaurants. They offer Ales, IPAs, Lagers, and even some non-alcoholic craft sodas for younger guests or those who aren't in a drinking mood.

2. House of Brews

A sports bar and restaurant in Turnersville, NJ (right next to Walmart), House of Brews offers around 26 beers on tap and plenty of mixed drink options. They have a bar surrounded by TVs with various sports games on at all times. They also have a seasonally changing menu to order from if you are hungry. The food they offer is always amazing, but it is definitely more expensive than typical bar food.

3. Mexican Mariachi Grill y Tequila Bar

If you are in the mood for some good Mexican food and strong Margs (because who would ever turn down a strong Marg?), this is the spot for you! It is conveniently located right on Rowan Blvd, so you can just walk there and back to your apartment! This is definitely the spot for good food and drinks. The staff and management are always really nice, too!

4. Chickie's and Pete's

Also located on Rowan Blvd, Chickie's never fails to be an entertaining spot to go. With walls filled with TVs playing sports games, a bar, and a huge food menu, where could you go wrong? Not in the mood for a full meal? Just grab an order of Crab Fries to go with your drink of choice.

5. Autumn Lake Winery

Although this winery isn't in Glassboro, it still deserves an honorable mention for all of my wine lovers out there. This winery is located in Monroe Twp. on Malaga Rd. and is quite a sight to see. There is a small hill you can sit on top of that overlooks a lake and the vineyard. One of the men who own the winery and helps with the vineyard takes people on a free tractor ride through the vineyard and around the perimeter of the property.

It's a BYOF (Bring Your Own Food) establishment that offers plenty of seating and live music. They have a wine tasting you can do upon arrival that is relatively inexpensive, and you can purchase as many bottles that you'd like once you're finished.

You don't have to do a tasting to buy bottles, and you can also bring your own cooler of beers or wine coolers if you're not a wine lover.

6. Landmark

The tried and true love of Glassboro. The go-to for Rowan students and Glassboro residents alike, Landmark offers daily deals on food and drinks. From Mexi-Mondays to $6 Fishbowls on Tuesdays and Fridays, they know how to make the locals happy.

There are two bars to sit at and seats in both rooms to sit and eat. Don't plan on being able to find a seat come the weekend, though, because it is usually packed with college kids. They also offer fun events like Drag Me to Landmark, a reoccurring Drag Queen show that varies in theme each time!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
