14 Places You'll Totally Want To Add To Your Travel Bucket List

In This Article:

If you're like me, you've never really done much travelling. That's not to say I don't want to travel, but I just haven't had many opportunities. Sure, I've done your standard out-of-state family visit trip and a Disney vacation, but there are plenty of places outside the United States that I want to explore. I've only been out of the country once before - to Belize - and it definitely made me want to see more of the world. Here's a list of places I've always wanted to visit!

1. Amsterdam

Giphy

Amsterdam is first on my list for a few reasons. It's beautiful, with all the canals and architecture. Also, there's a lot of history there. I'd love to visit the Anne Frank museum and the Corrie ten Boom House someday!

2. Prince Edward Island

Giphy

If you've ever read "Anne of Green Gables," you understand why I want to visit this place. Based on Lucy Maud Montgomery's descriptions alone, it sounds like one of the most beautiful places in the world.

3. Tulsa, OK

Giphy

This seems like an odd choice, but one of my favorite books, "The Outsiders," is set in Tulsa. The movie was filmed there as well, and the house they used has since been turned into a museum! I would love to see my favorite book come to life like that.

4. London

Giphy

Call me a nerd, but there's so much history in London. Between all the museums and all the landmarks, there are so many things I want to see. Plus, it's the birthplace of Shakespeare, who wouldn't get excited about that?

5. Israel

Giphy

Sometimes, it's hard to think about all the Bible stories you grow up hearing about actually happening at a place you can visit. I think it would be so cool to see the places where people like Moses, David, and Jesus lived, to walk where they walked. Seeing history right in front of you makes it more real, so I definitely want to visit Israel one day!

6. Ireland

Giphy

My dad visited Ireland when I was younger, and after he showed me all the pictures he took, I knew I wanted to go there myself one day! Plus, they have a bunch of castles there - who wouldn't want to see some castles?

7. Iceland

Giphy

Aside from being absolutely beautiful, it's super cheap to go to Iceland. They want to increase tourism there, so it's pretty cheap to fly there and experience the sights.

8. Rome

Giphy

Between the food and the history, I will be in my happy place when I visit Rome someday. I can't even begin to list the places I want to visit in Rome - there's far too many!

9. Hawaii

Giphy

Hawaii is warm and a group of islands, what else could I want? Plus, the USS Arizona memorial is there, and I've wanted to see that since I did a report on it in middle school.

10. Belize (Again)

Giphy

As my only trip out of the country so far, Belize has a special place in my heart. I want to go back and visit the places I went to before, and get to explore more of such a beautiful country!

11. Egypt

Giphy

Pyramids, mummies, Nile River, need I say more?

12. Australia

Giphy

There's so much flora and fauna that we don't get to see in North America, so I think it would definitely be a fun trip! Also, I've always wanted to go to the Southern Hemisphere to see the different constellations that can't be seen up here.

13. France

Giphy

I'm very French, so I'd love to visit any part of France just to see the land of my ancestors. Plus, a trip to the Eiffel Tower would be pretty cool, wouldn't it?

14. Barcelona

Giphy

Ever since watching The Cheetah Girls 2, I've always wanted to visit Spain. I would love to be immersed in the culture, experience all the amazing things Spain has to offer, and get a chance to practice my Spanish (which is extremely rusty)!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
