10 Places I'd Rather Live In Than The US

We all joked about to moving to Canada after the election. What if that became a reality?

We all jokingly said that we would leave the country if Donald Trump were to ever be elected president. Now, it's a reality. The 45th President of the United States is Trump. Although the chances of me actually moving out of the country within the next four years are nearly slim to none, I still would like to weigh my options and decide where I would best fit outside of the United States.

1. Canada

Canada seems to be the ultimate choice of new settlement for most Americans after the results of the election. It's super close and they speak English. Plus, it's Drake and Degrassi's home. Not to mention, some really good bacon. Who wouldn't want to go to Canada?

2. Japan

I am very biased towards Japan since Japanese has become my second language over the years. I would know enough of the language to get by. Plus, Japan is great! Have you seen their vending machines?

Also, this would not be my first time visiting Japan. I went for a high school trip the summer before my senior year and absolutely fell in love. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat no matter who the new president was.

3. South Korea

Being an avid fan of Korean Pop music, I figured I could just marry my "oppa" (a word sometimes used to call someone seen as a love interest) and live happily ever after. Also, Seoul is known for having great Wi-Fi nearly everywhere.

Wi-Fi that spreads like fire.

4. England

I mainly picked this one only because I wouldn't have to worry about a language barrier. Plus, YouTube sensations, Dan and Phil live there.

5. Australia

I'd pick Australia because there wouldn't language barrier there either, but also, Australia has koala bears — and they're ridiculously cute.

6. Thailand

They have elephants. Need I say more?

7. Ireland

I've always wanted to visit an Irish pub that was actually Irish. Also, I'd never run out of luck right?

8. Italy

Lizzie McGuire seemed to have a pretty nice experience in Rome. She met a gorgeous Italian pop star and became an Italian overnight sensation. Not to mention, their spaghetti must be the bomb.com. My mouth is drooling just thinking about.

9. Spain

You're going to hate me for throwing out another Disney reference but remember when the Cheetah Girls went to Spain? Remember the cute Spanish boys? That's all I need to get me through the day.

10. Hong Kong/China

As much as I love Panda Express, some authentic rice and noodles would be nice. It's amazing that I chose most of these places because of their food, but we all need to eat to live right?

There are so many beautiful countries in the world which made it hard to narrow down, but maybe the next four years won't be as terrible as we anticipate. Maybe I'm just being extremely optimistic. Only time will tell.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
