6 Places to Eat in Farmville

We all get tired of eating Dhall eventually. Sure it's free, but it gets old and repetitive. So here are some wonderful finds in Farmville to spice up your dinner options. The food is amazing and the prices are even better. Don't worry you are not going to bust the bank if you decide to eat out every now and then.

KJ Hibachi ($)

KJ Hibachi is located behind the Curry dorms. This isn't the normal Hibachi that you think of, they don't cook the food right in front of you. Instead you order from the counter and then wait at a table till they bring it to you. I normally get the shrimp hibachi, and that comes with fried rice and vegetables (broccoli, zucchini, and onions). There are other options, like shrimp and chicken, or chicken and steak. It's not that pricey normal my meal costs about $10 with a drink.

Macado's ($$)

Macado's is one of the big places to go in Farmville, they have so many choices to choose from. From wings, to sandwiches, even tacos and salads. My two favortie items on the menu are the fish tacos or the shrimp tacos, However my friend says the hamburger is to die for and so are the french fries! The food is outstanding and so is the wait staff. Macado's also has a bar, for those of you over the age 21, they have some interesting drinks such as; the lemon drop, green dinosaur, and the kiss of the lip. They also serve wine and beer. The prices may vary depending on what you order but it's never too expensive, I'd say $20 or less.

Charley's Waterfront Cafe ($$$)

This is the place you take your family when they come to town to visit. The food is really nice, and always prepared well. They have a variety, there is a fish choice, you can get pasta, or you can have a steak or a burger. When I go we always start with the crab dip appetizer, it has roasted red peppers in it, and giant lumps of crab meat. Charley's is a little more expensive that's why I say it's the place to bring your family. However I believe this is a prime location for a date night with you significant other. The beautiful atmosphere from the small river view and the inside makes you feel as if you're in a lodge.

Pino's Italian Food ($$)

One of my favorite places to go freshman year. I lived in Curry so it was a short walk there. I'm a big fan of Italian food I could eat it every day. Pino's makes a delicious spaghetti! And they are far from stingy with the sizing of the portions they give. I always ended up taking some home to put in the mini fridge for my late-night snack. They also serve pizza, and it tops your papa johns order any night. The service is great and the food is at your table in no time, also great prices, another place that is college affordable.

Walker's Diner ($)

Some of you may have seen that Walkers Diner was on the Food Network. Some of you may think "oh look they painted it green." Either way the food here is outstanding. If you don't go here before you graduate then you are severely missing out. If I had the money I would go here every day. It's not even expensive here so I could probably find a way to eat here at least three times a week. I just recently went to walkers for the first time, and I got a grilled cheese, that sounds boring but it's not, I promise. It wasn't just a normal grilled cheese it was pimento cheese which has red peppers in it, and it was amazing, you also have the option to add bacon to it. If you're walking main street and aren't that hungry stop by and get a milkshake, or a ice cream sammy (ice cream sandwich with potato chips on the side). The inside is a little small and tight, but they have an outdoor patio that you can sit and enjoy the meal. the staff that works there is so friendly, they join in on conversations and make you feel welcomed.

The Fishin Pig ($$)

This one is a little bit out, so you are going to need a car to get here. It's located over by the turn for Hampden-Sydney. It's well worth the trip. The Fishin Pig is known for its pulled pork but it also serves fish as well. One of my favorite meals there is the bang-bang tacos, they have a nice kick to them. Another big meal there is the pulled pork cheese fries, there always extra cheese, with a huge chunk of pulled pork on top. This is good ol' southern food. for those who are 21 they also have a bar, and I've seen the jello shots come out of a syringe, so that's something to look forward to when you turn 21. This place is always packed, so depending on the night you might have a wait time. the service is great, more friendly people in Farmville, the atmosphere is fantastic. If you love football then this is the place to go because they are always streaming a game. Great priced food, big portions.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
