It doesn't really matter where you end up going to school, the main question is: why did you choose where you did? Do you like it? Has it been everything you expected? What is there to do around town?
I would have to say my favorite question is "Adrian College? where is that?" And you get to say the smarta** comment of Adrian, Michigan and then pull out your hand map and show them where it is, and then explain how far you are from Ann Arbor or Toledo to make it easier to understand. Going to Adrian College you have to repetitively answer the question: what is there to do in such a small town?
1. Monday night is for Margs.. (Margaritas)
Cancun offers plenty of Mexican food and the prices aren't bad when you are on a college budget, plus we can use our Bulldog Bucks there. Whether you are going in to eat lunch or dinner, or heading in to go for some margaritas, it is always a good time and fun atmosphere.
2. Tuesday night is for bowling.
ZZ's Bowling Alley is the place to be on Tuesday nights. They have college student discounts, awesome food, and once again you can use your Bulldog Bucks. I would say this is a main hangout because who doesn't want to relax with some friends and have a cheap Tuesday night?
3. Wednesday night is for Fricker's or half off apps.
Hump Day, the middle of the week, where you either choose to relax, catch up on some homework, or go out to the local restaurants. You can finally tell yourself that the work week is a halfway over and that before you know it you'll be free.
4. Thursday night is L.A. Cafe.
What is Caf? Caf is a club you go to on Thursday nights. It is $5 to get in, they serve alcohol if you are 21 or older, and you pretty much dance the night away along with the stressful school week.
5. Friday night is usually when you hit up the movies.
It is a recovery day, lay back, relax, head to the movies, hang with some friends, go to the hockey game and maybe have a get together. Some would say it is in perpetration for Saturday.
6. Saturday night is a night on and around campus.
Saturday night is when many students go out and mingle after a long week, parties happen, and you will definitely find somewhere to go!
7. Sunday night is a time to catch up on all the sleep/ and homework you wish you would have done on Friday.
Sleep in, do the homework that you should have done Friday, and get ready for a long, fun work/school week.
There is more to it as well.
8. Hockey games at Arrington Ice Arena.
You picked Adrian College, a.k.a. you go to a well known hockey school. The games are always exciting, and the community always comes to support as well!
9. Spotted Cow.
The best ice cream place in this whole entire town. They seriously have everything you could imagine.
10. Ghost Trestle.
Legend has it a barn and house on the nearby property caught fire back in the late 1800s. A man went into the barn to try to put out the fire. Meanwhile his wife who was carrying their infant child in her arms went to the nearby train tracks to flag down a train for help. The mother slipped and fell into the path of the oncoming train -- killing both her and her infant child. The man later perished in the fire. To this day, it is said that you are able to go to the trestle and be able to hear the women and child screaming late at night if you yell "show me the wife and kid". It is said that this is a paranormal hot spot underneath the trestle in which you can communicate with the dead. It is also well known to be a portal to the "other side".11. Wow Cafe.
It's upstairs, overlooking the hockey rink in Arrington Arena. They have the best "fresh never frozen wings!"
12. Morning Fresh and Scrappies.
Seriously the best donut place I have every been to! Along with Scrappies, bring your student ID on Thursdays and get a discount on your sub!So yes, the town of Adrian may be small, but the community is so involved, the food joints and places around town are fun once you learn where to go and when to go! Once again.. GET EXCITED because Welcome Week and classes are coming quick!
