A Place Called Breakaway
Breakaway Ministries

I always feel so incredibly blessed to be attending Texas A&M for many reasons, but there's one reason that is my favorite. Breakaway Ministries. Every Tuesday night, Reed Arena is filled up with thousands of college students all praising the name above all names. Unified as one. Although all come from different majors, hometowns, backgrounds, everyone has one thing in common, they are head over heels in love with Jesus. Can you even imagine something so beautiful? You have to come and see it for yourself.

When you walk into this place, you are overcome with a sense of peace and joy. All of the volunteers are SO excited to see you there, even if they don't even know your name. They are welcoming and inviting to every person that takes a step into Reed Arena, and it is a place that makes you feel known, even if you are surrounded by strangers. Oh, how good it feels to be known.

The worship that is sung is absolutely breathtaking and makes you feel so close to God. As you are surrounded by thousands singing out the same words of praise, you feel as if you are alone with God, it is truly an indescribable feeling. It is a feeling of smallness that is needed and you can feel God's presence in Reed Arena.

The messages from Timothy Ateek and some guest speakers are absolutely remarkable! Somehow, the message is exactly what you need to hear or relates perfectly to your life in that moment. God has a funny way of speaking to you. TA says things in such a way that is relatable and comfortable, he makes it make sense. Having wisdom poured into you each week fills your heart up and prepares you to in turn pour wisdom into someone else.

At the end of last semester, we were able to see the number of people who found salvation because of Breakaway and were even given the opportunity to pray over them. So, even if you don't know who Jesus is, you are so welcome to come to Breakaway and experience what it is!! We invite you to come and join the Body of Christ. Breakaway isn't just working here in College Station, it is breaking boundaries and appealing to places all over the world, thanks to technology and live streams and podcasts online. So even if you can't be at Reed Arena in College Station at 9PM on Tuesdays, you can tune in during a time that is convenient for you!!

I think my favorite thing about going to Breakaway is getting to just take a step back from life for a couple hours. Life gets stressful. There is always something you are having to get done and sometimes it feels impossible to do it all. We get stressed out, worried, and anxious. Breakaway is a place of refuge and peace amidst the chaos of everyday life. A couple of hours each week to escape the problems of life and focus on the Redeemer, what a treat.

So, join us this Tuesday, January 17th, as Breakaway starts up for this semester, it's the place to be!! After you watch the Fightin' Texas Aggies win some basketball, Breakaway will be in full spring starting at 9:30. Come out and experience the joy of being unified with the Body of Christ on Texas A&M's campus. It's sure to be a night of praise, worship, wisdom, and love!!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
